Highway 62 Open Art Studio Tour Showcases 150 Artists Across Joshua Tree
The annual Highway 62 Open Art Studio Tour returns this weekend, giving visitors the chance to explore the creative heart of the high desert. The self-guided tour spans across the Joshua Tree area, featuring more than 150 artists and studios opening their doors to the public.
This unique event allows art lovers to meet directly with creators, experience the region’s fusion of desert landscape and artistry, and purchase original works. One of this year’s featured artists is known for transforming her family’s background in typewriter sales and repair into striking photographic art. She captures typewriters like family portraits and has expanded her work to include cameras, radios, and televisions, blending mid-century themes that resonate with Palm Springs’ strong modernism culture.
The event offers a rare opportunity to experience the diversity of art in the region, from contemporary photography to traditional painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Visitors are encouraged to plan their itineraries ahead of time to make the most of the expansive tour.
