Palm Springs Councilmember Jeffrey Bernstein Seeks Second Term in District 2
Palm Springs City Councilmember Jeffrey Bernstein has filed to run for re-election in District 2 in the November 2026 election. First elected in 2022, Bernstein is positioning his campaign around infrastructure progress, public safety, and climate adaptation.
The councilmember has already secured early endorsements from the Palm Springs Police Officers Association, Police Management Association, and Firefighters Association—backing he's highlighting as validation of his public safety record.
"I remain committed to continuing to work as hard as I can for Palm Springs, together with all of you," Bernstein wrote on his campaign website.
Looking ahead, Bernstein says he is focusing on economic diversification beyond tourism, identifying arts and culture, tech, clean energy, and healthcare as growth sectors. He's also pushing for a citywide shade and heat mitigation plan—calling climate adaptation "essential for our economic development."
Bernstein, a small business owner, lives in Palm Springs with his husband, Dr. Oscar Chamudes, and their rescue dog, Archie.

Nearly a year after wildfires tore through Mountain Center, the scars are still visible along the Palms to Pines Highway. Now, fire crews are working to repair those burn areas and reduce the risk of flooding, erosion and mudslides when heavy rain arrives. The work includes fire-line suppression repairs, water bars and other measures designed to slow rainwater and keep burned soil from washing away.
