The Plaza Theatre Reveals Some of Its 2026–2027 Season Lineup
The Historic Plaza Theatre rolled out a new wave of performances for its 2026–2027 season this week, giving residents a packed calendar of movies, Broadway shows, and live concerts to look forward to.
Starting in May, the theatre is kicking off a movie screening series, beginning with a "May the Fourth Be With You" showing of Star Wars: A New Hope on May 4th. The Wizard of Oz follows in August, and White Christmas closes out the film series on Christmas Eve.
For families, a Summer Sing-Along Series launches May 24th with The Sound of Music, followed by Grease in July and Frozen in August. The Summer Broadway Series, sponsored by Carol Fragen, opens June 21st with 42nd Street the Musical, then brings Titanic the Musical and Kinky Boots later in the summer.
The concert lineup runs deep into 2027. Some highlights include:

The holiday season is especially stacked, with John Waters, Jane Lynch, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and the Drifters, Platters and Coasters all taking the stage between November and December.
Pre-sale tickets open tomorrow for Plaza Theatre donors and members, with public tickets on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Nearly a year after wildfires tore through Mountain Center, the scars are still visible along the Palms to Pines Highway. Now, fire crews are working to repair those burn areas and reduce the risk of flooding, erosion and mudslides when heavy rain arrives. The work includes fire-line suppression repairs, water bars and other measures designed to slow rainwater and keep burned soil from washing away. CAL FIRE Riverside County Battalion Chief Ryan Lubin says the steep terrain, dry brush and limited access continue to create challenges for mountain communities. With El Niño conditions expected to bring periods of heavy rain, officials say preparing now could help protect homes and communities from the aftermath of wildfire.
