Alcohol Awareness Month Highlights Safe Drinking Practices in Coachella Valley
April marks Alcohol Awareness Month, and across the Coachella Valley, both health experts and local businesses are working to promote responsible drinking.
At popular spots like Kitchen 86, bartenders say they play an important role in keeping customers safe, monitoring alcohol consumption and stepping in when necessary to prevent over-serving.
Medical professionals warn that alcohol can have serious long-term health impacts. According to Dr. Teresa Jackson of the Betty Ford Center, alcohol use contributes to approximately 178,000 deaths each year in the United States.
She also notes that millions of Americans struggle with Alcohol Use Disorder, emphasizing that no level of alcohol consumption is completely risk-free.
For those who do choose to drink, experts stress moderation, awareness, and personal responsibility.
From restaurants to recovery centers, the message is consistent: making safe choices can help prevent harm, not just during Alcohol Awareness Month, but all year long.
