Palm Springs Landmark Over the Rainbow Desserts to Close After 16 Years of Award-Winning Service
After more than 16 years of crafting celebrated sweets for the Coachella Valley and beyond, the owners of Over the Rainbow Desserts have announced they will be closing their business at the end of the month. The storefront, located in Palm Springs, is scheduled to serve its final customers on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
In a heartfelt farewell message to the community, Co-Owners Roman Blas and Ken shared that the decision to close was reached after careful consideration of both personal and business factors. They noted that the timing felt right to begin a new chapter defined by a more peaceful pace of life.
A History of Excellence
The journey for Over the Rainbow Desserts began with two years of catering in the Coachella Valley before the team officially opened its brick-and-mortar storefront in January 2012. Since then, the bakery has become a staple for weddings, anniversaries, and milestones across Southern California.
The bakery also earned a reputation on the global stage. One of the proudest achievements mentioned by the owners was the successful delivery of their signature cupcakes to U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders.
