NBA Playoffs: Special Monday Night Schedule for NBC Palm Springs Newscasts
With the 2026 NBA Playoffs in full swing, NBC Palm Springs is adjusting its Monday night lineup to ensure viewers don't miss a second of the postseason action. Tonight's schedule features a high-stakes Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup between the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers, triggering several changes to our local news broadcasts.
The evening will begin with an early airing of NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt at 4:30 p.m. This leads directly into the NBA Playoffs doubleheader coverage starting at 5:00 p.m. Due to the national broadcast, there will be no regularly scheduled 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. local newscasts, and the Rogan Report will not air in its usual 6:30 p.m. time slot.
Viewers can still stay informed with brief news updates provided throughout the basketball games. Following the conclusion of the first half of the doubleheader, NBC Palm Springs will return for a full local news broadcast at 8:00 p.m. This will be followed by a special edition of the Rogan Report at 8:30 p.m.
The 11:00 p.m. news will air at its regularly scheduled time. As the NBA playoffs continue throughout the month of May, we will continue to provide updates regarding any further scheduling shifts to keep the Coachella Valley connected to both the latest scores and local headlines.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
