Rob Thomas Bringing Hits and Heart to Rancho Mirage This Memorial Day Weekend
After decades of chart-topping hits, sold-out tours, and some of the most recognizable songs in pop and rock music, multi-Grammy Award-winning artist Rob Thomas is returning to the Coachella Valley for one night only. The Matchbox Twenty frontman will perform live at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Rancho Mirage on Saturday, May 23rd at 8 p.m., bringing fans an evening packed with beloved hits, new energy, and the kind of intimate connection that has defined his live performances for years.
Speaking with NBC Palm Springs, Thomas said fans can expect a show filled with both nostalgia and excitement, blending iconic songs from across his career with the spontaneous energy that comes from performing in a more intimate venue. Thomas recently appeared in Rancho Mirage back in November for the Sidewalk Angels Benefit Concert and said returning to the Coachella Valley always feels special. While he’s played massive arenas around the world, he admitted venues like The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Rancho Mirage offer something unique, a chance to truly connect with the audience in a more personal way.
Over the years, Thomas has built a catalog packed with hits including “Smooth,” “Lonely No More,” and countless Matchbox Twenty favorites that fans still sing word-for-word decades later. He said there’s something incredibly rewarding about watching generations of fans continue to connect with the music. Now entering a new chapter of live performances, Thomas says the current tour feels refreshed and energized, especially as younger audiences continue discovering his music for the first time through streaming and social media.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders.
