Coachella Valley Donation Drives Support Venezuela Earthquake Victims
Coachella Valley organizations are coming together today to support families affected by the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela through donation drives and fundraising efforts.
One donation drive is taking place at the Palm Springs Police Department Training Center, where the Palm Springs Police Department and the Cal Fire Foundation are collecting essential supplies for earthquake victims. Organizers are asking the public to donate clean clothing, blankets, shoes, bottled water, and other basic household necessities.
Community leaders say the effort is intended to provide immediate assistance to families facing tremendous hardship while strengthening partnerships between local organizations and the communities they serve.
Donations will be accepted from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., and organizers ask that all items be clean and in good condition.
Meanwhile, in Coachella, the 2026 Legislative Breakfast is also supporting earthquake relief. The event, held from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe Restaurant on Grapefruit Boulevard, will donate a portion of its proceeds to Caritas Venezuela, which is providing aid to families impacted by the disaster.
The breakfast also raises scholarship funds through the Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Scheduled speakers include Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez, Coachella Mayor Frank Figueroa, and City Manager Gustavo Romo.
Tickets for the fundraiser begin at approximately $20.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
