48 Shelter Animals Leave Coachella Valley for New Homes
Dozens of shelter animals from Riverside County are getting a second chance at finding permanent homes.
On Monday, 21 dogs and 20 cats boarded a lifesaving flight operated by Wings of Rescue bound for Seattle Humane.
An additional seven dogs were transported to Mountainside Hope Foundation in Canada, where they will also be available for adoption.
The transfer opens up much-needed kennel space here in the Coachella Valley, allowing local shelters to continue taking in and caring for animals arriving every day.
Shelter officials say transport programs like these play a critical role in reducing overcrowding and connecting pets with communities where adoption demand is higher.
They also emphasized that local residents can help by adopting, fostering, volunteering or simply sharing adoptable pets on social media.
Officials say every adoption and foster placement creates room for the next animal in need of care and a chance at finding a forever home.
