Palm Springs to Host First Extreme Heat Summit

Palm Springs city leaders are preparing to host the city's first-ever Extreme Heat Summit.

The event is scheduled for Sept. 18 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The summit is being organized by the city's Department of Sustainability in partnership with the Office of Emergency Management.

Officials say the event will bring together experts and community leaders to discuss the growing challenges associated with extreme heat.

Topics will include protecting public health, improving emergency preparedness and strengthening infrastructure.

Organizers will also discuss ways communities across the Coachella Valley can build resilience and better prepare for extreme heat.
