Best of the Fest: Manny the Movie Guy Picks “Cinema Diverse” Favorites
The valley’s 18th annual LGBTQ+ film festival, Cinema Diverse, is showcasing a variety of films. Here are my picks for weekend two:
Thursday at 2 pm: Mixing It Up banner: “What We Said in the Blackout”
Director: Sean Au
When two former lovers wake up naked in the middle of an urban blackout, their repressed feelings are given the spotlight.
Friday at 12 pm: More Family, Friends, and Frenemies banner: “My Age Now”
Director: Daniel Talbott
A micro-budgeted film made with love about the finality of the word goodbye.
Friday at 2 pm: Feature Film “A Night Like This”
Director: Liam Calvert
One winter night in London, two men cross paths and go around the city to discover meaning in their miserable lives.
Saturday at 7 pm: Feature Film “Until the Silence”
A post-nuclear film that dives deep into the core of relationships and humanity.
Director: Billy Clift
Take a look at my interview with the filmmakers as they talk about their movies and Cinema Diverse. They emphasize the importance of showcasing various perspectives to highlight the universal feelings and struggles of the LGBTQ+ community.
