Inician construcción de viviendas a precios accesibles en Escondido
El Condado inauguró hoy la construcción de un complejo de 50 unidades de departamentos para ancianos de bajos recursos que están en situación de calle o que tienen alguna seria enfermedad mental.
El Valley Senior Village en el centro de Escondido promete ser una comunidad de adultos de 62 años que cuente con precios accesibles. El complejo está siendo construido por el Condado en conjunto con la Corporación de Vivienda de la Comunidad de San Diego y la asociación National CORE.
“Ahora más que nunca es muy importante para el Condado dar pasos significativos para preservar y crear oportunidades de alojamiento a precios accesibles en toda la región. Valley Senior Village es un paso muy significativo en esa dirección”, dijo David Estrella, director de Servicios de Vivienda y Desarrollo Comunitario para la Agencia de Salud y Servicios Humanos del Condado.
Valley Senior Village ofrecerá a sus residentes una variedad de programas y servicios médicos y de salud mental, incluido el manejo de caso, diseñado para promover la estabilidad y la independencia.
Los servicios estarán a cargo de Hope mediante la Housing Foundation, el departamento de salud de San Ysidro e Interfaith Community Services a través de un contrato con el departamento de Servicios de Salud Conductual del Condado.
El complejo tendrá un costo de 24 millones de dólares e incluye 10 millones del Fideicomiso de Innovación en Vivienda del Condado y la asociación No Place Like Home, cuyo capital operativo asegura que se mantendrá accesible para la comunidad de Escondido durante los próximos 99 años.
El Fideicomiso de Innovación en Vivienda del Condado fue establecido para brindar una brecha financiera a los desarrollos que crearan o mantuvieran viviendas a bajo costo, los 50 millones de dólares invertidos en el fideicomiso se han apalancado con otros 567 millones en fondos públicos y privados para crear y mantener 1,397 viviendas permanentes a bajo costo en 20 desarrollos de 15 comunidades a lo largo del Condado de San Diego.
En agosto de 2021 la Junta de Supervisores incrementó 20 millones los fondos y los hizo llegar a un total de 70 millones.
El Programa No Place Like Home prove capital y subsidios operativos para vivienda de apoyo permanente, el total de su financiación asciende a 130 millones de dólares en desarrollos de vivienda en la región.
Se espera que Valley Senior Village esté terminado para el verano de 2023.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
