San Diego recibe $8.3 millones para el programa de vivienda COVID-19
Este miércoles se anunció que se le otorgó un estímulo de $8.3 millones de dólares por parte del gobierno federal a la ciudad de San Diego y la Comisión de Vivienda de San Diego, para que continúen con el Programa de Asistencia en la Estabilización de la Vivienda debido al Covid-19.
Los fondos fueron redistribuidos de otras jurisdicciones a lo largo de la unión americana.
San Diego recibió la tercer mayor cantidad de recursos en el país, solo por debajo de Harris County en Texas, que incluye a Houston, con $8.6 millones de dólares y de Philadelphia, donde se otorgaron $8.36 millones.
“Estos recursos adicionales para los apoyos en el pago de renta nos fueron otorgados porque el gobierno federal reconoce el gran trabajo que San Diego está haciendo para utilizar esos fondos y hacerlos llegar a las manos de quienes mas lo necesitan”, afirmó el alcalde Todd Gloria.
El alcalde se reunió recientemente con Gene Sperling, Coordinador del Plan Nacional de Rescate, para solicitarle fondos adicionales de apoyo en pago de renta por Covid-19.
“Hay mas personas necesitadas que recursos disponibles, pero mi equipo continuará trabajando con nuestros aliados estatales y federales para obtener más recursos para la gente de San Diego”, agregó.
La Comisión de Vivienda de San Diego opera el Programa de Asistencia en la Estabilización de la Vivienda debido al Covid-19 desde su implementación y ha otorgado más de $152,800,000 dólares a 14,813 hogares de bajos ingresos que experimentan dificultades financieras durante esta pandemia.

El presidente de la comisión, Richard Gentry añadió que gracias a estos nuevos fondos podrán ayudar a más familias de bajos ingresos a pagar su renta y servicios.
“Estos fondos son el resultado directo de la pronta asignación de los recursos en comparación de otras agencias en el apoyo a las viviendas que más sufren esta pandemia”, añadió.
El Departamento del Tesoro de EE.UU. ha estado reubicando recientemente fondos de asistencia en el pago de renta de otras jurisdicciones que no lo hayan utilizado hasta el momento, esto incluye el dar mas recursos a las agencias que mejor se desempeñen, basado en la demanda, informó la comisión mediante un comunicado.
En octubre del año pasado la Comisión de Vivienda de San Diego solicitó al departamento federal $115 millones de dólares, por lo que solo le fue otorgado el 7% de su petición. California solicitó dos mil millones, pero solo le fueron otorgados 50 millones extras en ayuda.
De momento se han reubicado $239,900,000 dólares en todo el país, mientras que otros $875,500,000 dólares fueron reubicados bajo la clasificación de voluntarios, específicamente entre jurisdicciones del mismo estado.
La comisión afirma que hasta el momento tiene disponibles $42.8 millones de dólares para su programa de apoyo, mientras que se necesitan $70.3 millones para cubrir las solicitudes que tienen un status aprobatorio preliminar.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
