BNP Paribas Open: Main Tournament Play Begins in Indian Wells
The BNP Paribas Open is in full swing as main tournament play officially begins in Indian Wells. NBC Palm Springs has full team coverage, with anchor Tim O’Brien and reporter Tiani Jadulang live from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, capturing the excitement from both players and fans.
The day saw a thrilling three-set match between Kei Nishikori and Spain’s Jaume Munar. Nishikori, a former top-10 player, secured his first win at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden since 2021, prevailing 6-2, 5-7, 7-6. While not a marquee matchup featuring Grand Slam champions like Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz, the battle between Nishikori and Munar still generated significant buzz at the tournament.
Off the court, legendary doubles duo Mike and Bob Bryan spoke with NBC Palm Springs about their upcoming induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The brothers, who have been attending the tournament since childhood, reflected on their journey and deep connection to Indian Wells.
“It’s something you don’t dream about as a kid,” said Mike Bryan. “We were big on goals, but you can’t put that on the goal list. You just go hard, try to be professional and disciplined for a lot of years, and then hopefully in five years, you’re even considered.”
The Bryan brothers will be officially inducted later this year in Newport, Rhode Island, marking a major milestone in their decorated careers.

A high-speed police chase in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, came to a dramatic end when the vehicle plunged into Lake Como. Dashcam video released by police shows the pursuit before the car crashes into the water. Four people inside the vehicle were pulled from the lake with no serious injuries reported.
