College of the Desert Volleyball Makes History
College of the Desert Volleyball is having a breakout season — and it’s all powered by local talent.
Every player on the Roadrunners’ roster hails from the Coachella Valley, with standouts from Xavier Prep, Palm Desert, La Quinta, and more. At the center is setter Juliette "Juju" Rothe, daughter of head coach Detlev Rothe and assistant coach Marion Champion.
“It’s the Valley coming together as one,” Juju said.
That hometown connection is paying off. COD recently earned its highest ranking ever — No. 12 in the state — from the California Community College Women’s Volleyball Coaches Association. With strong chemistry and deep local roots, the Roadrunners are making program history one match at a time.
