LeBron James leaving the Lakers, will enter free agency
LeBron James is leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, according to his representation. He's not hanging up his sneakers, though; he'll become an unrestricted free agent instead.
James, 41, ends an eight-year run with the Lakers that included one championship, won in his second season with the team. He leaves as the NBA's all-time points leader, a 22-time All-Star and a four-time MVP.
Where he lands next is still up in the air. Some analysts think he'll finish his career in Cleveland, returning to his home state of Ohio. Others say he could join a team with enough salary cap space to sign him, with the Golden State Warriors mentioned as a possibility.
