Coachella Valley Scorpions Ready to Launch 2026 Season at Pickleball Showdown
Pickleball fans across the Coachella Valley have a special event to look forward to this week as the Coachella Valley Scorpions officially introduce their 2026 team during the Pickleball Showdown at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage.
The showcase will give fans their first opportunity to see this year's Scorpions squad in action before the team begins its upcoming season. The event will feature exhibition matches against the league's newest expansion franchise, the LA Extreme, giving players an early chance to compete together in a match setting.
Scorpions co-owner, general manager, and player Kim Jagd says the organization has experienced rapid success since joining the league in 2024.
"The Scorpions started in 2024. That was our first year in the league, and in our second year we were able to win the championship," Jagd said. "Agua Caliente Casinos has been a wonderful supporter from the very beginning of our organization."
In addition to introducing the team's newest roster, the Pickleball Showdown will include a celebrity exhibition match featuring NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens. Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills will also take the court, while NBC Palm Springs' own Tim O'Brien will serve as the evening's emcee.
For the players, the showcase provides more than just entertainment. It also serves as an important tune-up before the Scorpions open their season in Chicago.
"It's a great opportunity for the players to get together for the first time on a court with a referee and some opponents," Jagd said. "We're super excited to kick off the season in Chicago, and this event sets us up perfectly."

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders.
