How many hours of sleep do you get every night? Experts say six is the minimum for maintaining good health, with eight being the sweet spot. But for many, getting that amount of rest is easier said than done.
On Friday’s segment, Fred Roggin welcomed in Doug and Jamie Baker to talk sleep — or lack thereof. Doug proudly declared he thrives on a solid eight hours each night. Jamie, on the other hand, admitted she’s more of a four-to-six-hour sleeper.
That didn’t sit well with Fred, who called that amount “exceptionally unhealthy.” Drawing from personal experience, he explained how his longtime schedule at Channel 4 in Los Angeles had him sleeping just five hours a night for decades — and how damaging that can be. “You’ve got to get at least six hours of sleep,” Fred emphasized.
Doug agreed, saying a lack of sleep makes him sluggish, unfocused, and unmotivated. Jamie insisted she feels fine with her current sleep schedule, but Fred encouraged her — and viewers — to aim for at least six hours. Sleep, he said, isn’t just about feeling good the next day — it’s about long-term health and even longevity.
So if you’re cutting corners on rest, it might be time to rethink your routine. After all, as Fred joked, “If you die, you’re gonna be asleep for a long time — so it’s better to sleep now.”
