A troubling story out of Indio has residents demanding answers after a woman was violently attacked and robbed in broad daylight—yet the suspects remain free.
Sherry, a caregiver for her cousin, was assaulted outside her home on Helen Avenue. After witnessing two men rummaging through her car, she confronted one of them. What followed was a shocking act of violence. The man struck her hard enough to fracture her wrist and leave visible facial bruising. “I was hit so hard, I fell. I can’t even do the basic caregiving work now,” she said.
Surveillance footage shows the suspects removing items from Sherry’s car and driving off. Both the vehicle and individuals have been identified by residents. Sherry herself is confident in her identification, even pointing out specific details of her attacker’s appearance and clothing.
Despite this, no arrests have been made. The case has been passed from officer to sergeant, and now to detectives—yet the suspects still walk free in the neighborhood. Sherry and others in the community are growing frustrated and fearful.
