Palm Springs International Airport passengers got more than they bargained for this week after restroom facilities past TSA security were temporarily out of service.
Christine, a viewer, reached out to NBC Palm Springs to share the discomfort. According to her account, all restrooms beyond security had been down for five days, and travelers were left with only a row of porta-potties baking in the desert sun.
“It was a nightmare,” her friend at the airport told us. “People were frustrated, and no one knew what was going on.”
However, PSP spokesperson Jake Ingrassia clarified the situation, saying the restroom disruption was not a multi-day ordeal, but rather the result of a water main break that occurred early Wednesday morning. While post-security facilities were temporarily affected, Ingrassia said that pre-security restrooms remained fully operational, and portable restroom trailers were quickly brought in to serve travelers beyond TSA.
The good news? The issue has now been resolved. Full restroom services have resumed, and passengers can now travel without added discomfort—or the fear of porta-potty panic.
It’s a reminder that even at 30,000 feet, comfort starts on the ground.
