Heat Wave Continues: Coachella Valley Nears 100 Degrees with Clear Skies Ahead
Clear skies and climbing temperatures are dominating the forecast across the Coachella Valley, where highs are expected to reach near 100 degrees today. Yesterday topped out at 98 degrees—well above the seasonal norm of 85—and Friday looks to be the hottest day yet, with many communities seeing highs between 100 and 105 degrees.
As of this morning, it’s already heating up across the region:
Yucca Valley: 83°F
Thousand Palms: 91°F
Indio: 86°F
Palm Springs Airport: 92°F
Currently, winds remain light and are not expected to cause issues through Friday. However, a shift is expected on Saturday with breezy to gusty onshore winds by late afternoon. Still, conditions will stay below advisory levels.
The warm-up is being driven by a ridge of high pressure parked over the Southwest, keeping clouds and cooler air systems at bay. Radar remains quiet with no signs of precipitation across Southern California or much of the West Coast.
Palm Springs, Cathedral City, and Rancho Mirage are all forecast to hit 100 degrees today, while Indio and La Quinta will be close behind at 99 degrees. Tomorrow could bring record-challenging highs, with Palm Springs expected to reach 102, Rancho Mirage 103, and Cathedral City soaring to 105 degrees.
Saturday will bring a slight cooldown—just below 100 degrees—before a more noticeable drop arrives early next week. A passing trough will help shave off a few degrees, bringing highs down into the low 90s by Monday and possibly upper 80s by Wednesday.
Despite the temperature drop, no rain is in the forecast over the next seven days. Relative humidity will stay in the single digits through the weekend, keeping things dry and sunny across the region.

Palm Springs is mourning the loss of beloved entertainer James “Gypsy” Haake, who has died at 94. Haake began his entertainment career at just 19 years old as a Broadway chorus dancer. After retiring from the stage, he returned to performing at 82, becoming the host of Carnival Cabaret at Oscars in downtown Palm Springs. A longtime friend of our station, Haake was a familiar and beloved figure in the Palm Springs entertainment community — and his contributions were recognized with a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. His career spanned more than seven decades, proving that the spotlight never truly left him. ❤️ Rest in peace, James “Gypsy” Haake.
