Warm Days Continue, But Windy Weekend and Light Rain Ahead in Coachella Valley
Another beautiful day graces the Coachella Valley, with temperatures topping out at 92°F—just slightly above average for this time of year. Locals and visitors alike have been enjoying a week of sunshine and seasonal warmth, but changes are on the horizon as we head into the weekend.
Winds are expected to remain breezy across the desert floor through Friday. However, by Saturday, a storm system will begin pushing into the region, significantly increasing wind speeds—especially in the wind-prone corridors. Gusts could reach up to 70 miles per hour, which may affect outdoor plans, travel, and high-profile vehicles.
Sunday brings more notable changes as the system moves through Southern California. While moisture levels will be relatively low, light rain is in the forecast with potential accumulations around a quarter of an inch in some areas, particularly in mountain communities. Snow levels are expected to drop to around 5,000 feet, so there's a chance for a few snowflakes at higher elevations.
This system will also usher in cooler temperatures, with highs falling from the 90s earlier in the week to the low 70s by Sunday. It's a good weekend to keep an eye on the forecast and plan accordingly.
