FDA Warns Public About Fake Ozempic in U.S. Supply Chain
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is sounding the alarm over counterfeit Ozempic that has made its way into the U.S. supply chain. The agency released images showing hundreds of fake units that were recently seized, as part of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent pharmaceutical distribution.
Ozempic, a medication widely used to treat type 2 diabetes and increasingly prescribed off-label for weight loss, has seen surging demand over the past year. That spike in popularity has created an opening for counterfeit versions to enter the market.
The FDA first issued a warning in December 2023, when it seized thousands of units of counterfeit Ozempic. Officials now believe some of those units may still be available for purchase and potentially in circulation.
Patients and healthcare providers are urged to verify the authenticity of all Ozempic prescriptions. Signs of a fake product may include unusual packaging, improper labeling, or lack of expected results.
The agency advises purchasing prescription medications only from licensed and verified pharmacies. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to report suspicious products through the FDA’s MedWatch portal.

Salton city resident Abraham Feinbloom is expected to take a plea deal in the murder case of 17 year old T’Neya Tovar. Under the plea deal obtained by the Imperial County Criminal Courthouse, Feinbloom will plead guilty to one count of torture and voluntary manslaughter. According to court records, he is also expected to assist law enforcement in finding the rest of the victim’s remains.
